Antelope Canyon

Navajo Tribal Park, Page, Arizona, 86040

The Basics

Many travelers visit Antelope Canyon on photography tours to capture the colors and shapes of the canyon's sinuous walls or to spot local wildlife, such as the pronghorn antelope. Often, Antelope Canyon tours also visit Lake Powell or nearby Horseshoe Bend, a scenic viewpoint overlooking a curve in the Colorado River. Slot canyon tours from Flagstaff and Sedona typically include round-trip transportation. Other more comprehensive multi-day tours of the southwest depart from Las Vegas or the Grand Canyon National Park.

Amazing Trip
Our guide, Luis, he was excellent. He arrived at our hotel on time. He was friendly. It was about 4.5 hr each way to the Horseshoe Bend and followed by the Antelope Canyon with time to stop for bathroom breaks and lunch. These places were amazing to see and well worth the long drive but Luis and his company made it easy as we don’t have to drive so we can relax and enjoy the trip! Thank you!

Lower Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Day Trip with Lunch
Jack is very friendly and very welcoming. He also made sure that we get enough bathroom breaks and food/water. He is very knowledgeable about the lower antelope canyon and the horseshoe bend destinations. His vehicle is very clean and comfortable. The lower antelope canyon is magical and the horseshoe bend is awe-inspiring! Overall, my family and I had a wonderful experience.

Lower Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Day Trip with Lunch
Antelope canyon is a once in a lifetime must see! Beautiful beyond words! The trek to get there from Vegas is a long journey but worth it. Our driver was a pretty crazy driver though- and I did worry for our safety quite a bit! The lunch- don’t expect much. Subway sandwich from fast station stop. I didn’t eat. So bring snacks. Bathroom break on the way there and on the way home. A king but memorable day!

Small-Group Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend Tour from Las Vegas
We are very happy we did this. The tour guide and driver, Luis, was excellent - professional, friendly, and knowledgeable (he will help you get the best photos). The tour sites are incredible. Antelope Canyon is indescribably beautiful. I will use the word “magical”, a term I do not use lightly. The tour transportation is as described. The van is a tight fit, even if you are not big, but clean and AC controlled. Communication throughout was excellent and timely.

Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Tour from Sedona
When my friend mentioned she wanted to see Sedona the first thing that entered my mind was Antelope Canyon. Our guide Matt N. was was very knowledgeable of the area and accommodating with his guests. He made sure we got one of the best guides (Mario) when we entered Navajo lands. The guides help you take great pictures. It's a long day but well worth it. Thanks Matt N.

Small-Group Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend Tour from Las Vegas
Long day but worth it. Driver/guide Luis very nice. He drove fast but slowed down when asked. NIce van- clean and the water and snacks were appreciated. Loved Antelope canyon. The Navajo's were kind. Guide should have reminded us to bring tip money. We had to leave bags in van.

Small group Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend from Las Vegas
Our driver Scott was very nice and attentive to the group. He gave us history of areas as we passed by on our drive. He made sure everyone had water to stay hydrated. Several bathroom stops were made on the way there and back including stops to grab coffee/ breakfast (needed with such an early pick up) and lunch. The views at all our stops Antelope canyon, horseshoe bend and Lake Powell were beautiful. Highly recommend this tour. Definitely worth the money spent.

Lower Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Day Trip with Lunch
It is the best way to see the antelope canyon and the horseshoe bend from Vegas. The local guide at the canyon was very knowledgeable and helps you take good pictures. You’re only allowed to carry your phone to the canyon. Horseshoe bend was a 1 hour stop and you can explore without a guide. Overall it was a perfect day trip except that the AC in the bus was off for 70% of the times. And when they turned it on it would blast at full so everyone will feel cold.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • This Navajo nation landmark can only be seen with an authorized tour guide.

  • Bring your camera and a tripod for long exposure shots—photography enthusiasts travel from all over to snap photos of Antelope Canyon.

  • The more popular of the two, Upper Canyon is easily walkable thanks to a level sandy surface but not easily accessible for wheelchair users.

  • Lower Canyon involves a longer walk that requires climbing metal staircases and is therefore totally inaccessible to wheelchair users.

How to Get There

Antelope Canyon is set 7.6 miles (12.2 kilometers) from the city of Page, near the Arizona-Utah border. By road, Flagstaff and Sedona are two hours and three hours away, respectively. Although you must have a guide upon arrival, it's also easy to drive right to Lower Antelope Canyon from Flagstaff, Sedona, and even Phoenix by heading north along Arizona State Route 98.

When to Get There

Although the canyon is open year-round, many travelers consider March through October to be the best time to visit, mainly because of the favorable lighting conditions at that time of year. This lighting makes for a stellar display in the dark canyons, with the sun illuminating the cracks and crevices of the colorful canyon's red rock walls. Expect temperatures near 100°F (38°C) in summer.
