Magnolia is Magnificent

Guide and Gardens were excellent! Perfect weather to be able to walk around. Knowledgeable people staff Magnolia
Lovely gardens and amazing wildlife.
Garry_H, May 2023
Beautiful gardens, amazing amount of wild life - herons, egrets, alligators and more. Lovely old plantation house. Also has a nice cafe and a very big gift shop.
Less a plantation tour than a nature tour...
karin_l, May 2023
Was a little disappointed in the tour which was less a plantation tour and more of a nature tour. Tram ride was too long, house was disappointing...

Our tour guides were very informative and brought unique perspectives of the history of the plantation. We especially enjoyed our naturalist’s tram tour through the property.
Magnolia Magic
GaynorStevens_S, May 2023
I desperately wanted to see Magnolia Plantation and have after waiting 3 years to visit from Australia because of Covid. It was everything I had expected it to be but we missed the azaleas flowering.
Worth the time and money!
marionhare1, May 2023
Tour was great. Driver was very knowledgeable and funny. The tour itself was informative and the plantation house amazing.
Good Tour
Corinne_S, Apr 2023
I enjoyed touring magnolia plantation. My favorite part of the tour was when we walked with the tour guide. He explained the sauna at Flora well. The train ride around the property was probably my least favorite. The house is extremely interesting.. I was surprised at how small the house was. I was picturing a bigger home. The houses on the battery in Charleston are so much more impressive. Anyway, our tour guide was extremely nice. I want to thank him.
Don’t Miss Magnolia Plantation Tour
David_B, Apr 2023
Alan, the driver, was very professional, personable and very informative. Paying the little extra to be picked up at our hotel was most helpful. The guide at Magnolia was absolutely superb. She answered any questions we had, and because of her we left with a much better understanding of Magnolia Plantation and gardens. The trolley tour is definitely not to be missed. That guide as well was most informative.
the joy of the pass

Like the input of the driver, getting into the plantation, seeing all that beautiful antiques and the work that went into their construction, it was excited and immeasurable.Like living in the pass

our tour guide was funny and informative. The tram ride through the gardens was beautiful. It was also a good way to learn the history of this impressive family through generations
magnolia is a must!
Marie_W, Apr 2023
The Magnolia Plantation tour is a “must do” activity while visiting Charleston. With a walking tour of the lovely wooded path, to the tram ride through the swamps where you’ll see everything from turtles to egrets and baby alligators as well. The guided mansion tour was fascinating giving the group a glimpse of centuries old artifacts and facts about life pre/post civil war.
Not what I was hoping to see
Sheryl_R, Apr 2023
Lovely grounds...wonderful tour guide...for me the house was not what I expected...it was small and not the grandeous planation mansion I was hoping to see.
Response from Host, Apr 2023
Thank you for taking our tour. It seems you are bit confused about what plantation houses were. They are not grand mansions as they were working plantations. The owners generally had much nicer homes in town and didn't live full time at the plantations.
Great tour
robert_s, Mar 2023
Sharon the naturalist took us on an informative and most enjoyable trolley ride around the site. Sheryl was equally good and knowledgeable about the plantation home. They both were very sensitive around the topic of slavery indicating talking about the history will lead to healing. A definite must see.
Plantation worth the visit
Kenneth_T, Mar 2023
Very comprehensive tour of a plantation that has been in the same family since the 1600's. Unfortunately we were a couple weeks late for the spring bloom of the garden, but the grounds were still very nice. The tour of the rice fields was also very interesting. There are plenty of alligators to see!
Beautiful but be aware
Julie_H, Mar 2023
The plantation is beautiful but no where in the activity did it say you have to walk 1/2 mile. I'm handicapped and would not have booked it if I knew that. Then when they put you on the tram ride the guy tells "all the fat people to scrunch in". At that point I was done. I spent over $150 for the tour and then it cost another $120 to get a ride back to my car. The guide that took us out there felt bad and I don't blame him as he was very compassionate about my situation but they really need to provide clear guidelines!
Response from Host, Mar 2023
We're sorry you have trouble walking, but yes any plantation tour should be understood to be a fairly vast property with walking required. We will certainly address the inappropriate comments with Magnolia staff as we are a separate company that provides tours there. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Charleston!

Magnolia Plantation Tour
annewbowers, Mar 2023
It was lovely to walk around the paths and the woods. Unfortunately the azaleas had finished blooming and the magnolias had not started yet but it was lovely none the same. The house was interesting but crowded. Be aware there is nothing there to purchase to eat except potato chips and water as the cafe was closed which was disappointing as the tour covered the hours of 10a-2p. Well worth the money and cheaper than buying all the elements of the plantation tour separately. Benji was an entertaining tour guide.
Great Day Trip
John_B, Mar 2023
Great day trip. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and funny. The plantation house and surrounding grounds were beautiful.
Magnolia Fearden and House Tours Capture History and Nature in a great blend
Regis_K, Mar 2023
The gardens were amazing with the giant live oaks and cypress trees. We were able to see herons, egrets and main different local birds. There were also many tirtles and alligators sunning themselves around the ponds. The mix of history, local plant and animal life and the culture of the area was all intriguing ad presented in a professional and interesting way by all if the guides and repeat Magnolia Gardens and PlantationHouse. Really enjoyed the house tour with our guide.
Well worth the time and money to visit
Michelle_E, Mar 2023
Starting with our bus driver to the Plantation, his name was Shawn and he was so delightful and had so much knowledge of the area and his walking tour of the property was so much fun. The grounds were beautiful and the spring flowers were in bloom making it even more amazing. The house tour was fun and informational.
Beautiful gardens and grounds
Mary_B, Mar 2023
Enjoyed the tour of the house with the beautiful traditional furniture. The romantic gardens with azaleas in bloom were peaceful as we walked along the river.
Best Plantation tour in Charleston area
Deborah_E, Mar 2023
The guide was humorous, making the 45 min ride to the Plantation easy. The tram ride around this gorgeous Plantation was interesting, and the Plantation house was lovely. We loved the entire experience!
A bit underwhelming
Maryellen_S, Mar 2023
This was just an “ok” tour. The gardens are pretty but not outstanding. The nature tram ride doesn’t really show that much and the house itself is very small. I definitely would not return. Lisa, our guide was very good with a lot of knowledge about the plantation.

Wonderful tour must see. People are friendly architecture is very impressive. Nature is beautiful food is very tasty.
Great Afternoon
Tom_H, Mar 2023
Lisa was a good guide. Learned a lot. My favorite part was the tram ride. Saw lots of wildlife including several alligators. It was advertised as 6 1/2 hours but was only 4 1/2. Another hour would be perfect.
Great garden tour
Rene_R, Feb 2023
The guided walking tour through the gardens was definitely a highlight for me. Shawn was very knowledgeable and informative of the grounds, the plantation’s and the region’s history.

Great Tour
Rick_E, Feb 2023
This was a great tour. The tour guide provided the narration on the 30-min drive to the plantation. Then we had a walking tour, a tram tour, some free time, and a tour of the house. There are bike trails, walking trails, and other tours on the plantation, but not enough time to do all of these. Overall, I think it was well-paced and would highly recommend it.
Nice trip to the past.
Bruce_B, Feb 2023
The inside of the house, the places where things happened on the grounds, and the alligators. The house itself was a small disappointment, because it was post-bellum and not ante-bellum.
Really enjoyed
Lee_B, Feb 2023
Beautiful Plantation with remarkable history. We enjoyed our time there on such a beautiful day. Our guide to the house tour did a great job and was very knowledgeable about the history of the plantation. Great time being together just my wife and I.
Wonderful Day at Magnolia Plantation
Holly_C, Feb 2023
All the tour guides were wonderful. They brought the history, wildlife, and beauty as well as an awareness of the enslaved people who made Magnolia Plantation possible to life. Shawn also did a great job conveying to us the culture of Charleston.
