The Basics

While the Sagrada Familia looms large over Barcelona—it’s visible from many parts of the city—the cathedral should be seen up close and from within to truly be appreciated. Visitors can tour the interior on their own, on a guided tour, or with an audio guide. It’s also possible to take an elevator up one of the towers for sweeping views over the city.

Just about every sightseeing tour in Barcelona includes a stop here, as do hop-on hop-off bus tours, which also stop at Park Güell, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, and Plaça de Catalunya. It’s possible to combine a visit to the Sagrada Familia with a half-day trip to the nearby mountain abbey of Montserrat or the medieval city of Girona.

Barcelona and Sagrada Familia Small Group Tour with Hotel Pick-up
Vicens was a great guide on the walking tour. We didn't realize thought that he would not guide us through the Sagrada Familia. All of us on the tour were disappointed by this.

Fast Track Sagrada Familia Guided Tour
Raoul ( hope I have spelled his name correctly) was great. He was well informed and entertained us all. The cathedral was overwhelming and he took the time to explain things/details so we had a better appreciation of the building. April 23rd( not specifically Sagrada Familia) will be transported around the world with our group. Highly recommend Raoul - you won’t be disappointed.

Fast Track Sagrada Familia Guided Tour
Don’t miss this highlight of Barcelona. The history of Sagrada Familia was fascinating. You will enjoy a real feat in engineering and precise design in a time where there were no computers. I highly recommend taking a guided, fast track tour. Our guide, Cindy, was very knowledgeable about the history of the structure. We learned so much. Antoni Gaudi was a genius architect.

Skip the Line: Park Güell and La Sagrada Familia Tour in Barcelona
Our guides for each venue were very good and knowledgeable. We learned a lot. The Park Guell was less enjoyable because the park has many levels making it a very difficult walk. The park was very crowded so navigating the crowds made the excursion more complicated and hurried. Seeing the La Sagrada Familia Cathedral is an excursion that should not be missed. It is amazing.
I definitely recommend it.

Sagrada Familia: Fast Track Guided Tour with optional Tower
Seeing the Sagrada Familia from the inside. The only complaint was hard to find the tour guide as there were hundreds of people around on various tours in the area. Would be a good idea to provide information on what the person will be wearing or have (i.e. pink umbrella) with them.

What a great tour of Sagrada Familia. Our guide Roberto was so knowledgeable. He described and showed us all the little details that we would otherwise never know. Got to skip the line too.

Priority Access: Best of Barcelona Tour Including Sagrada Familia
Awesome walking tour and visit to Sagrada Familia. Also added Parc Guell. Our guide, Sergio, was knowledgeable about his beautiful city. He also provided guidance about other areas we could visit. He was attentive and checked on us during the tour. There were areas he took us in the Gothic quarter we would not have found on our own.
Fantastic sites & great guide. It doesn't get better than that!

When to Get There

The Sagrada Familia is open throughout the year but can be extremely busy in summer, so a skip-the-line ticket is recommended. The facade looks markedly different when illuminated at night than it does during the day, so plan for at least a short visit during both periods. Note that the basilica holds an international mass each Sunday morning in several languages; entrance is free, but space is limited.

Visiting the Sagrada Familia Museum

The basement beneath the passion façade houses a museum covering the temple's construction through drawings, photographs, and plaster models. Entry to the museum is included in basilica admission, and visitors can see the working modeling studio where Gaudi’s restored maquettes are reproduced to aid in the structure’s ongoing construction.
