Pastor, Jesus, and Norma were absolutely incredible tour guides. Norma was so educational and sweet and Pastor kept plucking us from over crowded and inconvenient situations and was so helpful! It was amazing! Our tourguides Samuel and Pastor were very nice and had answers to al my questions. In Chitzen Itza is was very very warm and humid but the walked us throughout the whole park. Valladolid wasn't very exciting but they tried to make the best of it. The cenote was very steeped but the temperature was nice and cold, just what we needed. The good was ❤️. Thank you guys. I would book it again!!

Amazing Experience for culture, food and history

It was an amazing experience! The tour guides Ruth and Norma were incredibly knowledgable of the culture and history of the Yucatan are and Chichen Itza. The bus driver Fabian was fast, safe and made sure the ride was comfortable. They were friendly, respectful, and I would recommend a tour by them any day. Incredibly funny individuals they make you feel welcome even when you are traveling alone making the outing even more enjoyable. I would definitely book another trip through Viator and especially if it is through the company SAT Mexico. Make sure to pack a bag with a towel, hat and bring plenty of water as the Yucatan area is mostly flatland jungle so the heat will go up and the sun is not forgiving. The Cenote is one of the most beautiful ones in the region from what I had read and it did not disappoint. You can see birds and other wildlife like catfish and iguanas there and the water is very clean. They offer a diving area and everyone is equipped with life jackets so as someone who cannot swim I felt incredibly safe. Visiting the town was great as we got to do tequila tasting and the locals were incredibly friendly. The only things I would change about the trip are add more time on the trip to Valladolid to explore some more of the plaza. I will never forget this experience and I would do it again!

The overall experience was decent however the bus for the long drive does not have sufficient AC and is very old! The guide was decent but it was hard to hear him at times. Also, I recommended having English and Spanish speaking tours separate and not switching between both.

Great day trip to Chichen Itza, a Cenote and Valladolid. The day wasn't too long or short (pick up was at 7:25am, drop off at 6:30 pm). The tour guide Rey was very nice and was informative but there was also enough free time built into the programme.

Me and my wife enjoyed the trip very much. The driver Fabian and the guide Rey were excellent. The departure and returning to the hotel were on time. It was a hot day. The driver provided ice cold bottled water, which was nice. I wish there can be an indoor theater to present the Mayan ancient culture, ceremonies, and dancing. I am sure the visitors would love to see. The buffet was ok, not particularly special. Next time, I may bring my own sandwich. The seats were very tight and we have to share the tables. I wish there can be more room for comfortable. Overall, the trip was good. I would definitely recommend people to book with Viator. They kept me well informed of the schedules. Good job Viator. 👍

Safe, fun, informative and relaxing

What a great time my family and I had. Caesar and Luis were great fun guys with a lot of information. The driver of the bus was great also. He drove safe with a relaxing drive. My family and I stayed at Iberostar Selection the drive was about 2 hours to the Mayan site, then a nice bus ride to the Cenote on a hot day the water was so refreshing. After having a nice swim in the Cenote we ate really good Mexican food. The food had so much flavor lol I wished I stuffed some my bag. After we drove about 20 minutes down the road to Valladolid! What an experience and lots of history. My kids are 21 and 17 they both enjoyed it very much. Thank you for such a great experience!

Tour guide was very cool and informative. Something felt off though as he tried to recommend us to buy from a stand and there at chichen itza prices were outrageous compared to other stands. Also he recommended us to do a Mayan calendar($30)USD which I ended up getting but I don’t think it was worth it. Everything else was really nice though.

Pretty amazing experience

This was a fantastic tour. Despite a lot of drive time, our guide Cesar made it fun and interesting, especially for information geeks. Transitions were smooth and well communicated, Chichen Itza was amazing, including the history Cesar shared (even in pouring rain). Swimming in cenote was super cool and unique, and the meal after was great. Only thing we could have done without was the final stop in a colonial town, but it was brief and broke up the long drive back some. Thank you Cesar and Fabian for making this a wonderful day!

Great excursion from beginning to end. Initially I booked for the wrong date I contacted the host and he changed it quickly. I’m big on history and Sam the guide was very knowledgeable. Both guides were fun and friendly. I felt safe as a solo traveler and I’d definitely recommend this excursion

This is a great full day trip. Seeing a wonder of the world. Awesome Swimming is crystal clear cenote. Awesome. At the end some shopping. Awesome. Lunch is included. Cesar was the best guide and we learned so much about the Mayan people. This was amazing. And so worth the cost.

I think your trip was good but maybe consider dividing the trip with couples with children and people without. This is a very long trip and no doubt the children are tired but listening to a distraught child for 2 hours is not pleasant.

Wasn't the best experience I've ever had

Transportation: 3/5 -I am staying at Hideaway at Royalton, and on my ticket it states Hideaway at Royalton lobby is also my pickup point at 7:05AM. In addition, I received confirmation that this is my pick up point. You know what they did? They sent the bus to Royalton Splash which we DO NOT have access to. Royalton Hideaway does not have access to Royalton Splash side. I was waiting at the Hideaway since 6:50AM. I had my husband wait in the lobby while I tried to get help from guests services to call the tour company as its a local number. I got a hold of customer service who acknowledged the bus was sent to the WRONG pick up spot but never did they apologize. Customer service contacted the tour guide to redirect them to the correct lobby. I go back to the lobby to wait. I get a missed call, so back to guest services to call the number. It ends up being our tour guide and he says that security won't let the bus through that I need to walk and meet the tour bus at the security gate. I'm sorry what? The security gate it extremely far from the lobby. It's a two lane dirt road and it would take us 40+ mins by foot. So I outright refuse because is that reasonable or safe? No. Is that what I paid for? No. Eventually the tour bus makes it up to our lobby by 8:20AM. Keep in mind I've been there waiting since 6:50AM. The tour guide is curt and not welcoming. None of this is my fault.... No apology nothing. We pick up a large group of people at the side of a gas station and he apologizes to the entire bus saying "we were delayed because we had to go to a lobby for pick up that we were not supposed to." Not true, whoever dispatched the tour bus made a mistake because my ticket states pick up at Hideaway at Royalton. None of this was my fault. The announcement was unprofessional and incorrect. Bus driver did a good job driving, the bus was clean, offered free water bottles but had mediocre AC. I've been on tour buses with better AC. Chichen Itza - 4/5 Before we embarked, an offer to purchase a personalized Mayan calendar was made. The proceeds go towards supporting a school. The tour guide went isle by isle to offer this. "Somehow" we were skipped, I would have liked to purchase three. OH WELL, I'm not flagging anyone down. Tour guide provided great historical information and was interactive with the group as a whole. The historical site itself is beautiful. Tour guide wasted too much of our time trying to sell us obsidian items at a stall on site. Vendor wanted $80USD for two cheaply made bracelets. If obsidian could really heal and do all these great things the world would know about it, it would be well known info around the world. In my opinion, it's a gimic. We had a scientist on board who was skeptical too. Tour guide 3/5 Did a good job keeping us informed during the trip. Provided adequate historical info. Was not friendly or welcoming to us when we entered the bus. Wasted too much time trying to convince us why we should buy obsidian items from a particular stall. Was more friendly with other passengers and that's unprofessional. We were not rude to the tour guide and were polite and courteous. So the attitude and dismissive treated from the tour guide is not justified. All passengers should be treated the same. Please note: None of the transportation issues were my fault. What should have been done? The tour guide should have apologized on behalf of the tour operator for the mix up and advise that he would look into why the error happened. It's not the tour guide's fault that we were picked up at the wrong spot but he represents the company. So take ownership and apologize. Food 3/5 We visited a local buffet restaurant near the cenote we visited. The food was good but we were not advised by the tour guide that drinks are extra and out of pocket. We paid $15USD for two bottled water and one can of sprite. Ridiculous. I left no tip. Cenote 4/5 Beautiful small cenote. We had the option to swim, many did but we did not. We were happy to visit and just take pictures and videos. Stairs going down and up are slippery so be careful. Overall rating 3/5. Would I book this again? No. The transportation issues were stressful. I did this excursion and booked with another operator directly from the hotel back in 2019 and had a better experience.

The guided tour of Chichen Itza with Alan was fabulous! Alan was so knowledgeable about the Mayan culture. The cenote was interesting and a refreshing swim. The third stop in the town was short but enjoyable. Would highly recommend this tour if you’re in Cancun.

Don’t second guess!!

If you are reading this and looking for the review to tell you what to do…here it is. I was skeptical, at first, with booking through the site. But after reading one of the below reviews it told me everything i needed to know so it may help someone else. BOOK THIS EXCURSION!! Book the ALL INCLUSIVE OPTION That way you do not have to worry about paying anything the day of the excursion. If you want souvenirs or such it will cost extra. But all the entry fees, locker, and life jacket will be covered. We were picked up from the hotel and dropped back off at the hotel as well. Bring bug spray and sunscreen. It is hot but the Cenote will cook you off after the Chichen Itza your. The food was amazing !!!!!! Our bus driver, Enrique, was a great driver and made the ride smooth. Our tour guide, Alan, was super knowledgeable and made the bus ride super amazing. Any questions we had, he was able to answer. The only negative about the ride, was the bus did get a little hot; but that is mechanical errors. Nothing anyone could do. Enrique tried to keep the bus cool as possible. Even staying on while we were off of it to do so. Overall 9.9/10 !!! There are a lot of other sites to choose from but ultimately I went with this one for the price and everything being included under one package.

Tino y Ray and the driver Jose were really great, funny, knowledgeable. You can tell they're really sincere about the Mayan history and the locals to which they seem really connected with. Victor, our guide, was great. We loved the tour. It was hot at Chichen Itza (in early May) but the frozen drinks available to purchase was a great relief. Cooling off in the Cenote after also helped. The Cenote was fabulous and had some nice retail therapy. The food and drinks were great value there too. We enjoyed the tequila tasting in Valladolid and seeing the historic town. We feel the overall value in this trip makes it well worth it. We loved the centrally based bus pick-up in Playa Del Carmen. We highly recommend. Note: It was not specifically clear how to confirm the bus pick-up in Viator’s app for Playa Del Carmen but we called Viator and they confirmed it for us by email after.

The trip was fantastic. Our guide, Victor, was very informative and painted a clear picture of the historical context of the Mayan people in the region, the political and cultural traditions of the inhabitants of Chichen Itza, and the architectural feats that made the central pyramid one of the 7 wonders of the world. Swimming in the cenote was a fun and novel experience and was very refreshing after the heat of the Chichen Itza site, and the food was spectacular. The tequila tasting at the end was also a highlight of the trip. Our driver was very efficient and provided a smooth ride. I felt bad because I had spent all of my cash at the site and didn't have money to tip him, so I hope he got the recognition he deserved for providing such a valuable service to the tour. I would highly recommend this event, and I hope to return and take the Tulum excursion at another date.

There were a lot of other similar tours online but this one was the most popular. We weren’t disappointed. Chichen Itza was amazing, and like all the other reviews it’s ridiculously HOT! Bring water and a hat, loads of sun screen, maybe even an umbrella (or you could rent one at the site). There were also other options like all inclusive or hotel pick up etc. working out the differences in cost it would seem it was cheaper to just book the hotel pick up one. We didn’t want to have the worry of forgetting to pay for anything so went for the all inclusive option. What did this actually mean? First of all, we didn’t have to carry the extra cash for the Chichen Itza entry fee or for the Cenote life jackets which are both mandatory, and if you have a credit card with points, this worked out good too! The other thing that wasn’t apparent until we got to the Cenote is that with the all inclusive you get like an express wrist band that you can go straight to the changing room to get your locker and life jacket, everyone else has to queue up to pay for the tickets for the life jacket +\- locker. (don’t forget you have to bring your own towel!) since a lot of other tours go around the same time, whilst everyone was waiting in line, my wife and I were able to change, (also the mandatory outdoor shower to protect the environment) and head down the steps to the Cenote before all the big crowds arrived. The cenote itself was absolutely perfect, with a waterfall. The cool water was exactly what you need after being in the sun in Chichen Itza. I’d suggest bringing spare clothes to save you changing back into sweaty clothes from earlier. Lunch is around 2pm, so if you can wait to swim first and then eat, I’d definitely recommend doing it in this order. We had 1 drink included each with the all inclusive, doesn’t include alcohol, but I believe I heard the waiter saying it was about 130 Mexican pesos for a soft drink (but not confirmed). Don’t forget you can ask your waiter for “tortilla de maize” at no extra cost, which was a great accompaniment to the really nice food. (Both meat and vegetarian options). Our trip also included a free tequila tasting experience which was super nice and we learned some drinking customs. You can of course buy their tequila but we found it to be very expensive. Like £42 for a 330ml bottle, or £32 for a tiny wooden carving of a alebrije which was 5cm tall. We would have bought something if it was a a bit more reasonable. Mike, Rey and our driver Israel were great and very informative. We learned lots about the Mayan culture and language. Would definitely recommend this tour to friends and family.
