What To Expect

Start with pickup at your hotel, then begin the trip to the Tulum Archeological Site, among the most dramatic ancient cities on the Yucatan Peninsula, with stone fortifications overlooking a white sand beach. Learn about the history and culture of the Mayan people, with free time to photograph the ruins before leaving the site.

Continue to the Mexican Caribbean in an air-conditioned vehicle. Get fitted with snorkeling gear, and slip into the water to swim over the coral reef (the fee for Conservation of the Marine Fauna is not included in this tour, and must be paid during the tour).

The afternoon is all about the natural world: follow your guide into a cave that’s bristling with stalagmites and stalactites, then take a walk through the jungle, listening to a forest chorus of tropical birds and animals. Visit the nearby Cenote Xtun to cool off with a swim in the fresh, limestone-filtered water.

This tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

What an amazing experience!! Boaz, our tour guide, was so informative and passionate about teaching us the history of the Mayan people. Pedro, our driver, got us around safe and sound. I for sure wouldn’t have been able to drive myself through the jungle without wrecking! 10/10 highly recommend well worth the price. I’m surprised it wasn’t more expensive considering how much we got to experience.

Best experience of our trip

Amazing trip from start to finish. R2D2 was our guide, he arrived exactly on time to pick us up, he was very knowledgeable about Tulum, the snorkeling was in the lagoon because the ocean was too turbulent but it was amazing and beautiful anyway. The cenote was by far the best experience, everyone agreed it was the highlight. This is a can’t miss experience!

Tulum, Snorkle with Turtles and Caves

Our guide Alma was great, her energy and personality was spot on. We had a guide show us around Tulum he was great and very informative(forgot his name). We had a photographer who was very friendly (Tony) he was not pushy with selling photos at all, we purchased them as he had some incredible shots of us with Turtles and in the caves. The mix of this excursion was fantastic, the driver (Neftali) stayed with the coach all day keeping all of our belongings safe. We had a great time and was with a good bunch of people.

Good but wouldn’t do it again

The tour guide, driver and photographer were great. Tulum was closed so we went to Muyil which was not that impressive. They can was way too small. Every seat was taken and we were packed like sardines for the 12 hour day.

We were fortunate enough to have Alma as our guide and Francisco as our driver. What a great team! At Tulum, George was our guide and he was wonderful also. Alma did a great job preparing us for what was coming next and providing lots of information and insights about the places we were seeing. The snorkeling highlights were seeing the turtles and stingrays. Wow. The Xtun cenote was amazing. Truly amazing.

Gabo arrived promptly and did a great job leading us on this adventure. Tulum is beautiful and just the right amount of time was spent there. He provided umbrellas and looking around us few other guides did this and they were needed as there is very little shade. Snorkeling we saw many turtles, and rays! Well worth it. We especially like the Cenote. We had done this with another group a few years ago and had low expectations. This tour allowed us to swim through a series of caves and Gabo did a great job explaining several new things to us. We have caves around our home which we have been to often, but we still learned alot! Highly recommend.

Great trip-disappointed in staff issues

Tulum was very hot but very interesting. Make sure you were sunscreen, take the umbrella offered, and carry water with you. The snorkeling was great. The water was a bit cloudy, but we saw a large variety of fish, numerous string rays, and two sea turtles. The cave is extremely cold, but you do get used to it a bit and it was a unique and interested way to explore. Here is why I gave it three stars: our guide was very knowledgeable about so many things but over and over again he reiterated that the earth is 65 million years old, a meteor hit the earth resulting in hundreds of ice ages, and humans never lived among dinosaurs. I’m not sure why this agenda needed to be such a big part of the tour, especially because he knew they believe differently. In addition, the photographer only took pictures of of one of our three daughters and a few family pictures. He was great with the wildlife, but was a big disappointment. He does not take any pictures during the cave portion of the trip or Tulum. For a family of five, it was not worth the $100. Finally the driver, who had driven fine all day, once we departed from the guide and the photographer he drove too fast, turned the radio up, and blared inappropriate music. He even missed the turn to one of the participants hotels because he was driving too fast. Once we got to our hotel he told us that the photographer did share tips with him, even though the guide said they all shared. So we were bullied into tipping a second time. It was unprofessional to be told two different things. Throughout the day the guide would say one thing and then behind his back, the driver would say the opposite. This was regarding whether or not to wear shoes, bring a towel etc. That need to get on the same page. So, I would definitely recommend this tour and company, but not this team of driver, guide, photographer: Sergio, Paul, Tony.

Highlight: Cenote swimming

We had an incredible excursion to Tulum with our guide Alma, and the highlight of the trip was visiting a stunning underground cenote. We were picked up promptly from our hotel in Cancun and taken to the Tulum archeological site, where we learned about the history of the Mayan civilization. However, the real standout was the cenote we visited, which we would have never discovered on our own. Alma was an exceptional guide, friendly, helpful, and informative. She made the trip even more enjoyable with her enthusiasm and energy. We also appreciated having a photographer on the tour, who took some amazing shots of us swimming in the cenote. Best tour I’ve ever done

From start to finish this tour was amazing. Pickup was prompt in the morning and when our van had some trouble, the transition to a different vehicle was safe and seamless. Our guide, Alma, was knowledgeable and kind and was with us from start to finish. Tulum was beautiful and the guides provided lots of info about Mayan culture. It’s really hot there with a bit of walking, so be prepared! After, we hopped in the van to go to the beach next door. We got snorkel equipment and climbed into a small boat for a 2 min ride to the reef. Lots of fish and stingrays, but the highlight was the 2 sea turtles! Not much in the way of coral, but a wonderful experience. The highlight of the trip was X-Tun, the underground cenote. Swimming in the crystal clear waters with the stalactites and stalagmites surrounding us was something else! The caves were much bigger than anticipated and we swam through several pools, climbed out to walk more through the cave, then repeated several times. It felt like a them park ride! Nothing felt overcrowded and the service was top notch. There is a professional photographer but they didn’t try to push the pictures on us. Snacks were provided after Tulum, there was plenty of water, and lunch was provided under a pavilion at X-Tun. I couldn’t have hoped for a better experience.

Wouldn’t recommend

Hi, I thought the tour guide wasn’t of a good standard; he was very rude to both me and my sister throughout the trip (he scolded us a couple times). Also he was very smelly and the whole bus was stinking. The tour was for both English and French speaking individuals; this made it very difficult to follow what the tour guide was saying; I was expecting this to be an English speaking tour only. The English of the tour guide also wasn’t good and I think I only understood 10% of what he was saying. His knowledge of the historic sites was very poor (I understood more from the other tour guides around me). The lunch was very bad (very cold) and when my sister when to get more pasta she wasn’t given the most friendly response. Also we were told a photographer was going to join but not given any details of the cost etc. we only wanted 1 or 2 pictures of ours at the end but we were then told that’s not possible. Also doesn’t make me comfortable that my pictures are now public property and with anyone who purchased the package. This should have been disclosed upfront - I probably wouldn’t have taken any photos . I use Viator quite a lot and this experience is one of the worst ones I’ve experienced!

The photographs that are not acquired by our clients are not used for commercial purposes, they are only stored in a database for possible future purchases, after a while they are eliminated from the registry.
