What To Expect

After pickup at your Cancun hotel or central meeting point, travel in air-conditioned comfort to Xcaret Park outside of Cancun. This Xcaret excursion offers activities for every interest, from history to ecology to adventure.

Explore the underground caverns beneath the jungle, once used by the Mayans for cleansing rituals before sailing to Cozumel Island, a sacred site. Keep an eye out for brightly-colored macaws, deer, and monkeys as you wander through the network of subterranean tunnels.

Discover the orchid garden, a favorite of nature-lovers and amateur botanists. Check out the butterfly pavilion and the aviary, as well as the aquarium featuring specimens of gorgeous coral reefs. Head to the beach to relax, swim in the warm, calm waters, or snorkel with sea turtles. Most of these activities are included in your admission to Xcaret. Prices for additional activities may vary.

If you want to extend your outing at Xcaret in Cancun, stay for the Excaret Mexico Espectacular, a show full of folkloric entertainment, dancing, and music. Follow the narrative of Mexican history from the pre-Columbian era until modern day through the performers.

I liked this park, if you have small children this is the park for you! Other then that everything was extra and the dinner for the show we paid $90 person and it was not at all worth it a waste of money!! The show was cool and there was stuff to look at but other then that everything was extra and it only included one meal!! For the price it’s not worth it, just my opinion!!

This is an awful experience that isn’t worth the money at all. You pay a lot of money to get into the park and then have to pay approximately $75 per person per main excursion option on arrival. Everything is a hard sell! Even down to the $40 waterproof phone cases for the lazy river that smells so bad in places we nearly got out the water. We paid $40 per person at an on-site restaurant for a buffet where the food is so terrible even the wild animals stayed away. Also, they have dirty and tiny enclosures where you feel so bad for the captive animals inside.

That park from top to bottom is was worth the money. The plus package is 100% worth is and saves you money in the long run. Food was amazing and park was fantastic. Its a total pity about the misogynistic rude xcaret tour guides. Both guides for the transportation were ruide, unhelpful and just wanted to sell you items. I would 100% go again but will never deal with the ignorance of these guides again. I would not tolerate how they treated me and my wife again.

The up-sell starts the minute you get on the bus

Visited Xcaret on Friday 4/14. The park is very nice and the river floats were interesting. The park is not inexpensive to visit. With transportation from Cancun Hotel Zone hotels it was over $200 USD/pp and that just gets you in the door. A good portion of the 1 hour plus ride was a marketing/sales presentation to introduce you to all the add on experiences. That was not enjoyable. If you want to be nickel and dimed at every turn then this is the trip for you. I’d pass on doing it again.

I enjoyed the shows,the beach, and the exhibits. The excitement was unending. The river was amazing and seeing the animals was so educational. I have to come back and complete the tour.

The transfer was 3hrs not 1.5hrs as stated, including pick up at MANY hotels….the guide was very pushy trying to upsell extra activities rather than focusing on telling us about all the amazing things included in the ticket! The staff were also VERY pushy when you got to the park to upsell photos/water/activities it was very intense! the park is also quite tired and dirty now, we visited 10years ago and it was amazing but what we saw this time was a world apart which is such a shame! The coach included in the plus ticket also only departs at 4pm or 9.30pm which was too early and too late for us so we spent $100 USD on a cab to get back to our hotel

Loved the property, especially swimming in the cave river and the bird aviary. A lot of walking! Even though we rested quite a bit it was still a long, tiring day waiting for the 7:00 show to begin and then finally getting back to our resort an hour away. Overall a nice day! Would definitely not recommend a full day with show if you have an infant or children under 5 or 6.

We did Xcaret on my husband’s birthday and it was great! I completely understand why all the reviews I read said that you can’t do everything in one day. Because you really can’t. However. The things we wanted to do, we were able to. The underground River swim was AMAZING. There are plenty of photo places so you don’t need to have your phone with you. Plenty of people opted to bring their phone and purchase a water proof case but I didn’t want to chance it so we both left our phones in the lockers. I also understand why people say it’s easy to spend a ton of money here. Because if you want to do a lot of extra activities then yes… you’ll spend a lot of money. Don’t worry about being pressured to buy all the activities at the beginning though. Most activities have a spot where you can purchase it there as well. My biggest tips…. Buy the photo package, bring your own water shoes (or else you’ll have to purchase one there… well… you don’t have to but walking around and getting into the water is so much easier with them), bring your own towel, and stay for the night show! It is amazing! We bought the dinner package as well for the experience. It’s 7 plates and some people said it’s not worth the cost, but honestly it added to the experience.

Horrible Logistics w Tour Agency!

Xcaret park is magnificent. Once again the Tour Agency asked us to drive out to the Wyndham Gardens for pick which is 45 minutes from our hotel City Plus Cancun Aeropuerto Riviera which is a major inconvenience. We drove directly to the park again like we did the previous night to XOXOMILCO. The tour agency both nights ignored that we picked City Express Cancun Riviera from Viator's drop down menu that's next door and sent us to the opposite side of town so we drove to both parks instead with our rental car. My advice is book the tours to these two parks yourself otherwise you are at the mercy of the tour agency for pick and you would end up paying more for taxi's back and forth Rent a car if possible. Taxis are extremely expensive in Cancun.

Memorable day at Xcaret Park

The river trip through the caves ,although at times it was too congested ! We spent app 2 hours in there ! The wildlife ,animals in natural habitat !! The spectacular night show was amazing & a must too see ! Although we had a full day there ,it's impossible to do everything in a day !! However enjoyed the day & highly recommend it ! I booked English guide trip & we were only English speaking on our coach ! The quide did not give us enough info , particularly about the wristbands which had a facility to scan & take photos !! Consequently we didn't use this facility,which was a shame !! We missed the opportunity to have memorable photos of a first experience!!

We were given instructions to meet out in the lobby at 7:00am and bus will pick us up at 7:25ish. It was noted to call 24 hours prior to the date to confirm pick up and time. I did that and the bus never came to pick us up. We waited for 1 hour and was on the phone for a good 40 min. The person I got a hold of said they didn’t see my reservation in the system. How? When I called the night before to confirm my date and pick up location? They didn’t even say sorry! I wasted my morning and I had to last minute change my plans for the day which was suppose to take up a full day! They rescheduled us for the next day which was the day before our flight which I originally just wanted to relax and pack before going home. We ended going the next day and getting back to my resort around 11pm and my flight was 8am the next morning. For anyone reading this book through your resort instead!

Pickup and Guide were fantastic both there and back! Park was a little confusing to navigate, some directions were unclear but we managed to navigate it once we got our bearings. Everyone was very helpful - Note to fellow travelers: One day is really not enough at this amazing place!

Great day, good experience, yummy food

Overall, we had a great day and would recommend the experience to others. There’s a lot to see and do, even if you stick with only the included activities on the ticket. However, there are many experiences you can purchase on top of the ticket once you arrive to add to your trip. We chose to add on the dinner with the show and the dolphin interaction. The dolphin interaction was a bucket list item for us and I’m glad we did it, but the experience was too expensive for its value. That being said, the dinner we added on was absolutely worth it—delicious and unique. The rest of the included activities were fun, the park is really interesting, the shows are fantastic, and the buffet lunch was yummy. Our only complaint was that it was an extremely expensive day for the value of it all, but then again, it’s a cool once in a lifetime experience.

This was by far the best day we had in Mexico. The tour operators were organized and on time. Pickups were quick and smooth. I wish we had multiple days to do this because there is just so much to do and see. The river was the best part of the day for sure. The food was INCREDIBLE and the drinks were strong. I recommend getting the dinner with the show. 7 courses of fine dining style food and every single item was amazing. The service was so good. We literally had the best time here I could spend multiple days going through the park. Can’t recommend highly enough!! Worth every penny.

Excellent place with delicious food. Sea track is something you need to do. We made the Caleta in the sea track and was really fun. The buffet at la laguna was absolutely delicious. Have variety of food and well prepared. The river was amazing too. We bought the photo pass and use it a every location that we could. We want to go back!

The dolphin experience was amazing. We loved the scenery and landscape of the park. Swimming in the river was so peaceful. The food and drinks were great and the show at the end of the night topped everything off! Superb experience and worth every penny. Plan to spend some coin at this park. Oh! Buy the photo package. So worth it!!!

The park is beautiful and very large. Many interesting things to see and do that are not extra. The 3 different river are all good but difficult to d all in one day. I id the underground river. It is swimming, no intertubes and it is very long. I went around 10 AM and not too crowded. When you come into the park the place to buy the additional activities is first and very long eating into your time. Skip renting the "lockers" as they are very small and you can put all your stuff into the storage bag they send to the end of the river for free. You should not wear any kind of sandles on the river swim only water shoes or barefoot. The aviary and butterflies were both very nice. Many other nice areas as well. They had 2 times for going back, 4PM and 9:30 PM. It would be very difficult to see much of the park and activities by 4 PM. The night show at 7 PM is excellent. As for food you can bring it into the park, they do not check your bags. The buffet is OK but $40. They have a cafeteria close to the lockers that has excellent turkey or ham pannini sandwiches for about $170 pesos as well as dessert and drinks. You can refill water bottles throughout the park with filtered and treated water

Keep it Simple and Enjoy

This park is amazing with tons of stuff todo, however we, a group of 6, got caught up in trying to do a lot of the extra activities that we barely saw what the park had to offer (our fault). We did the SeaTrek (paid extra) and went swimming in their natural underground river which takes you through the entire park which is amazing in itself. The SeaTrek was exciting, however I learned I might be claustrophobic (new fear unlocked) though I completed the activity with fish swimming inches away from me, sting rays gliding across my leg, that’s an activity I’m proud I did but won’t be doing again (if I was meant to be underwater, I would’ve been born a fish haha). Those two things alone take a good portion of your time. My advice is just do one extra activity and then just enjoy the park itself. Definitely make time to see the Mayan night show, it’s worth it. It’s a cultural show that is entertaining and at some points has you on the edge of your seat. Plan to walk around in a bathing suit for majority of the day, I’d suggest bringing a casual pool cover up for when your not swimming, towels (not provided) and absolutely buy water shoes. All in all, I would go back but plan for a much simpler day.
