Overview
Escape the bustle of the city on a sailboat tour through Lake Michigan with a convenient departure from Navy Pier. The cruise offers plenty of frame–worthy photo opportunities, including sweeping views of the Chicago skyline rarely seen by visitors. As a popular choice for both locals and visitors, your experience is guaranteed to be family–friendly and tailored to your needs.
Select from Pirates and Maritime Stories Sail at 1pm, Skyline/Architectural Theme at 3pm and 5pm, and Skyline Sunset Sail at 7pm.
This sail is approximately 75 minutes. The ship leaves promptly at the scheduled time, please allow for time to park, off the pier if necessary.

We are located on the South dock, on the south side of Navy Pier, immediately in front of the Billy Goat Tavern. If walking on the south dock from the entrance, walk where you see restaurants and boats, walk pass the Ferris wheel, walk past the sign for the Shakespeare theater, then on right!

- All Passengers must be present 30 minutes prior to advertised sail time. The Ship leaves on time. Please allow ample time for Chicago traffic, getting lost, and not being able to park close.
- Children under 16 years of age, must be accompanied by an adult
- Windy is NOT HANDICAP accessible.
- Guests must be able to ambulate up and down 6 steps on each side of the boarding ladder.

We couldn’t find the place. Drove around and around and walked miles. No one could help, taxi driver tried and tried. We followed the directions to the best of our ability. 😞 I saved for months and traveled 1,500 miles to do it.

We are located at 600 Grand Ave on Navy Pier in the exact location your tickets show and are the only four mast schooner on Navy Pier. We hope to take this opportunity with our other guests, that there are five different paragraphs in your confirmation with concise directions for arriving by car(from five different highways) /taxi/bus/METRA and trolley. I pulled the information directly from your confirmation.
We encourage our guests to use the information on the ticket to correctly guide them to our ship.
HOW TO FIND TALL SHIP WINDY:
Tall Ship Windy, is located on the South Dock at Navy Pier, near the Shakespeare Theater, Billy Goats Tavern and Riva Restaurant. Look for our masts or our ticket booth.
By CAR
• From the north, take Lake Shore Drive (US 41) to the Grand Avenue exit.
• From the northwest, take the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94) to the Ohio Street Exit, south on Orleans to Illinois Street and proceed east.
• From the west, take the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) to Columbus Drive, north to Illinois Street and proceed east.
• From the southwest, take the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) to Lake Shore Drive (US 41), north to Illinois Street and proceed east.
• From the south, take the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90/94) east to the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) to Lake Shore Drive (US 41),
north to Illinois Street and proceed east.
• From the southeast, take Lake Shore Drive (US 41) north to the Illinois Street exit.

Public transportation offers visitors an affordable and convenient way to get to Navy Pier. It is also the recommended means of travel to and from Navy Pier.
On METRA
Metra commuter rail is a convenient travel alternative. On weekends and select holidays, up to 3 children under 12 travel free when accompanied by a fare-paying adult. The CTA's #124 bus provides convenient and direct service from Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station to Navy Pier. For Metra fare and schedule information visit www.metrarail.com, or call 312.836.7000.
By CITY BUS
The CTA provides seven bus lines with more than 200 buses serve Navy Pier daily on the #29 State S.t, #65 Grand Ave, #66 Chicago Ave. and the #124 Navy Pier Express (serving Metra lines the Millenium (Randolph St.), Ogilvie and Union Stations). During weekday rush hours, the #2 Hyde Park Express (stops running at 9:10 pm ), #120 Northwestern / Wacker Express (serving the Ogilvie Transportation Center), and the #121 Union / Wacker Express (serving Union Station) run every fifteen minutes from 9 am to 12 am throughout the summer and 9 am to 10 pm the rest of the year. Navy Pier offers daily free trolley service between Navy Pier and State Street along Grand Avenue and Illinois Street.
By TAXI
Navy Pier has three convenient taxi drop-off and pick-up points. One is at the west end of Navy Pier, serving Dock Street and the Family Pavilion. At the mid-point, Entrance 1 serves the west end of Festival Hall, RIVA, and WBEZ Radio. Entrance 2 serves the east end of Festival Hall, the Grand Ballroom and the Navy Pier Beer Garden.

Real sailing during the tour. 1 captain plus 4 sailors and 1 guide, a big four work for the passengers on board. Hard work! Five stars.
Only the guide was lack of some passion.
Overall, worthy to have a peaceful rest and take some pictures.

Ok for older people - more settled people. Not a trip for kids . Very boring . They do not sail far they stayed nearby . Not worth the money take a different trip.

The description and title for this tour is very misleading. I was expecting a boat tour ride through the city with some facts about the city but all we did was go out into the lake and come back. And it was pirate themed? Weird

Jerry we regret that you did not enjoy the charter. We are a lake sail and it is themed, as per all the copy and information on the website. Our many photos are of the four mast schooner ship (a Pirate ship) and our opening line is, "Escape the bustle of the city on a sailboat tour through Lake Michigan with a convenient departure from Navy Pier." Both the size and type of ship and that it is a skyline tour are in the title as well; perhaps you missed that information and photos.

As much as I enjoyed Shark Bait's stories and humor, I most enjoyed watching the pirate crew work as a team, hoisting sails and responding to commands. I hadn't expected that and it was a joy to experience!

The crew that worked on the ship were very nice and the drinks were really good. We took the sunset cruise and it was a beautiful trip with the night view of Chicago Lit up at night
