The only way to see Chicago when you first get in, the big bus is a great deal. Even with the cost of it, it still allows you a good scope to get an idea of what you’re in for.

Tried 2 different buses yesterday & got off & will never return. Cramped on 1st level standing entire time while it rained. When rain stopped the driver was so rude yelling at us to move to 2nd level. Problem was all seats were wet & no towels on board to wipe down seats. We got off the bus & next stop only do be greeted by another rep & asked ‘why the problem!’ Stated all seats on 2nd level weee soaked & we never participated in the tour. She didn’t care. Asked if the had any towels to wipe down a seat for us to use. She stated she didn’t carry those items & said we were welcome to get our own towels & come back on board…never again & complete waste of money

We were at the bus stop early for pickup and the driver came late and passed right by us. We had to wait another 20 minutes or so for another bus. This was our first experience with a Big Bus Tour. Was disappointed that we did not have a “live” tour guide. It was prerecorded. Although we knew that was a possibility ahead of time. Some of the ear jack plugins don’t work. Check before taking a seat. Buses run every 30 minutes but not on the hour or half hour. Whenever they arrive, it will be 30 minutes from then. You do get to see a lot of Chicago this way and would recommend it to “first timers” to the city. Probably would have rated it higher if the bus driver would have picked us up the first time!

The hop on/hop off bus was an awesome experience to do for our first visit in Chicago! We had Candace for the vast majority of the tour who was hilarious and genuinely nice. We loved her!! The amount of stops was appropriate and it allowed you to see all of the highlights of Chicago including museums, restaurants, plazas/parks, Lake Michigan, etc. My only complaint is that the bus schedule runs only every 30 minutes. I have done these bus tours in other cities and they typically run every 15 to 20 min. It can be hard if you “just miss” one bus because it was a few minutes early and then the next bus is a few minutes behind and you end up waiting nearly 40 minutes. This is a very small complaint though and I would truly recommend this experience to ANYONE!!

I didn’t realize that live narration was optional for the drivers and ours was “ not a talker” which were his words when I asked about it. Plus my earbuds kept shocking me. And lastly, the app is not very helpful and the “manage my reservation” feature doesn’t work as it doesn’t accept the booking reservation # on your ticket

You may want to allot a day for the bus tour since there are 11 stops in total. If you don't know where you are going on your 1st visit, this is a good way to see Chicago loop.

Big Bus tour app was not working. Missed many buses because we could not track them. My 76 year old father had to take a city bus and an uber because of missed busses. Speaker system for headphones was not working. Driver tried to fix and it wouldn't work. Glorified bus ride. Vey disappointed.

Our driver Alicia (or Alyssa I can’t remember exactly) was an absolute pleasure - warm, kind, funny and super knowledgeable!! I am glad we were on a bus with a “live” guide instead of having to use the ear buds as that would not have been as fun. The tour was great - but!!!! Make it a 2 day tour because we ran out of time and couldn’t see everything we wanted to see for as long as we wanted to see it. We will do the bus tour again in the future - it was very handy to not have to get an Uber every 5 seconds! The app makes organizing your attractions super easy and the real time bus info on the app was perfect so we could time activities with precision (no waiting). Just a must do when visiting Chicago. I have been there so many times but never heard most of the history included with the tour. Top notch! Thank you!!

I took the 4 p.m. departure as that was all that fit my schedule. With late-day traffic congestion the driver took some route departures and we spent a good bit of time not moving. And with that he dropped us off by 5:35 p.m. when it's advertised as a 2 hour outing. Go earlier in the day if you can.

My wife and I spend the day in downtown Chicago touring the sights. The Big Bus was a great option. We parked near stop 11. The bus arrived as the app stated. We got on an off several times and after about 5 hours arrived back at stop 11. We had three different drivers, all were good, very informative.

Best Way to see the City and get around

This was my first time visiting Chicago downtown so I wanted to see as much as I could. The bus was a great option to get around to so many popular destinations. Although it was cold, it was still a great ride and the staff were all very kind and accommodating.

I’ve done several Viator tours and they have all been great. This tour was very impersonal. First, there was no one at the designated stop to validate my ticket as the instructions stated. Second, there was a recording for the stops, but the audio quality was poor. There was really no information provided that was worth the price of the ticket. Lastly, the bus driver did not interact with the tourist making it a very impersonal experience. Will not recommend this tour to anyone.
